Long sleeved Dress

Rose pink dress find it here H and M £24.99 /Boots were given as a gift / Rings from Topshop last year
I love a good long sleeved dress! This one also has got a decent pair of pockets which is unusual in this style of dress and makes the whole thing a lot more enjoyable to wear. The skirt has also been cut to include extra material so it has a nice flare and volume which makes the dress feel a lot more expensive than it is. I could wear this day and night (and have been).

Photography sea light

I recently got a new camera and have been itching for a chance to get to use it! It is the first ever SLR camera I have owned and so it has lots of different things it can do which I am trying to get my head around! I have been reading a few different books on photography and although I think it might take me a good while to get to grips with I wanted to share some blog posts with you on my camera experiments because I am really enjoying them.
Last week I went down to Brighton with my fiancee and we walked around town a little bit before ending up on the pier around sunset. I can often walk around for a good few hours and not feel like taking any photos but then suddenly I get a picture in my head and then more photo ideas stream out from this and everything gets a little crazy. (I probably took about 200 photos on this pier). I havent edited any of these they are just straight from my camera but here are my favourites.

I wanted to frame this man right on the edge of the picture because that best seemed to echo a sense of quiet observation that I like in this photo.

Can you see the seagull on the crest of the wave? I would love to take this photo again with a better lense and shorter shutter speed to get each droplet of foam in crystal clear action.

I normally find the telescopes on piers a bit ugly and functional but I think this one blended with the sunset light and looks kind of magical.

I went on this ride and it. was. fun!

There were so many birds flying around the pier at dusk that I got a little obsessed with bird pictures (you will see this if you keep scrolling :)

There is something so beautiful about flocks of birds flying in perfect togetherness floating on the thermals. There were thousands and thousands of sparrows here and they flew continuously around the pier putting on the most amazing displays and darting as fast as lightning to the beach then back to the horizon and then up and away into the sky in an ever changing circle. How do they all stay together and know where they are each supposed to be as they change direction in a split second? They don't seem to be separate beings; they are more like one collective spirit split into different bodies. (I will stop going off on a philosophical tangent now and get back to the photos).

Observations on life part two

The dove was shaped from delicate filigree gold leaf. It shone in the last gentle rays of the sun as if it was made from burning fire and its wings seemed almost to move as the light sparkled smoothly across the surface...He stood and watched it as the sun finally died and wings folded down close and cold. He shut the door quietly and went back downstairs to where the firelight was playing with the wood sending golden hints flowing and flickering away into the darkness.

OOTD Swarovski and skater dresses

I just wanted to share a fairly festive outfit with you today that I had forgotten to post a couple of weeks ago! I bought this red skater dress from H and M before Christmas and I love it! I paired it with a belt that I bought at a tiny market in Portugal and the bracelet was my Christmas present and comes from the new range at Swarovski.

Shaz's questions

Why did you choose to blog?
I have always loved reading other people's blogs and when I was at uni I started a couple of my own blogs and loved the creativity and community that it brought into my life. I love the fact that you can post what YOU want on your blog and it can represent lots of differnt creative parts of yourself.what would you do if you got a 1000 flowers?
I would do a little flowerarranging... then probably give quite a lot away as gifts to make people happy.what's your favourite joke?
I can't think of a specific joke but I love reading the Buzzfeed links that say things like '20 ways to know you are a teacher' or '20 things only 80's babies would know'if you can Describe yourself what would you say?
I would say that I am a huge mix of lots of different interests and hobbies.
who's you favourite youtuber ?
Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter because she is so down to earthwhat's your favourite novel or book?
That's a really hard question because I am a massive bookworm and read millions of books. At the moment I think it would probably be this small book called 'The Wise Woman and other stories' because I was brought up in an Ancient Eastern spiritual background and I like that kind of thing.
if there was only one shop you can shop at, which would it be?
Sadly, I have realised this would probably be H and M becuase whenever I do OOTD on my blog and I source the clothes they are pretty much always from there.
what do you do on your spare time?
I do A LOT of things in my spare time- dance, yoga, rock-climbing, painting, reading, cooking, movies, YouTube videos, DIY and most importantly blogging!
what's your favourite tea flavour?
Definitely peppermint
if you were stuck on an island for a month and you can have only one person with you  who would it be ?
I thinkk it would have to be my fiance Matt because I like hanging out with him.
what's your dream job?
Anything creative and varied.

Suzy's questions

Q1. What is your favourite part of blogging?
I love the part where you are sitting somewhere and thinking about your upcoming blog posts and you get a rush of inspiration and a million ideas come into your head and you are itching to get started.
Q2. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
I would live exactly where I am now (London) because I love the changing seasons in the UK and I love being in the capital city where you can go and see new things every weekend and there are classes and meetup groups for pretty much anything you might want to try.
Q3. Did you make any New Years resolutions (and are you sticking to them)?
Yes, I resolved to try and have a healthy breakfast each day and build more exercise into my daily routine. I haven't done so great on the healthy breakfast but I am doing well with the exercise becuase I have started cycling to work (although I have to combat fear of death by lorry every day).

Q4. Who is your all time favourite blogger?
Even though this might be cliche it honestly is Tavi Gevinson. Style Rookie was the first blog I ever read and even though she doesnt write it any more I still go back and read through her posts because they make me feel so inspired and they are so uniquely beautiful.

Q5. What type of camera do you use?
I have just upgraded to an entry level SLR (yay) and it is the Nikon 3200D
Q6. What is your desert island beauty item?
Hardcore moisturiser for the elements.
Q7. Do you have a YouTube channel?  If not, do you plan on having one in the future?
I don't but I think I would tentativly like to have one by this summer if for nothing but to jazz up my blog a little.
Q8. What is your favourite movie?
The Moulin Rouge, I think Baz Luhrmann is a genius and he sort of reminds me of Tavi Gevinson in a way in that he blends colour, music, history and culture together in this hugely creative way and makes something really unique and iconic every time. Also the story makes me cry EVERY TIME.
Q9. Why did you pick you blogs name?
I chose my blog name about six years ago and I chose the word chic because I wanted it to be fashionable and then I really love strawberries so I added that too!
Q10. What would you put in room 101?
I think I would put fear into Romm 101- this is the thing that holds me back the most in my life from doing the things I want.
Q11. What do you want to get from blogging?
I want to have a chance to be creative and do something that I really enjoy. I also want to meet other people who think the same way I do.

                                                             My questions

1) Why did you first start blogging?
2) What are your favourite hobbies?
3) If you could describe yourself in three words what would they be?
4) If you could only use two makeup products for the rest of your life what would they be?
5) Who is the most important person in your life and why?
6) If you could have dinner with one person but anyone in the world both alive or dead who would it be and why?
7) What is the thing that you would most like to change about the world?
8) Describe your ideal day
9) If you won the lottery what would you do?
10) What is the thing you would most like to gain from blogging?
11) If you were to give a piece of advice to any other blogger what would it be?

I nominate

The beauty of water-Spring Summer collections 2015

I went for a run this morning and had one of those moments where the music on my headphones blended perfectly with the sun glittering off the leaves and the breath puffing out of my mouth and everything was perfect and beautiful. I decided to take the idea of synaesthia and use it for this here blog post.
I am really interested by the idea of our subconscious mind. I have been told that our brain makes roughly about 2000 synaptic associations per second. While we might be only aware of one thought, underneath our brain is making all kinds off associations based on memories. Our brain essentially processes the information we take in from around us and then categorizes it against a database of hundreds of thousands of other experiences.

When I was flicking through the SS2015 collections I wanted to explore what kinds of subtler thoughts and associations I had. Here is something I sort of picked out of my brain- what do you think?

Continuing the theme of water - from an iceberg to a single icicle droplet - I love the extent of activity in this one drop: abstraction, reflection, and the way it contorts the image behind, all giving it its aspect of abstraction
